May Recalls (Click here for Previous years) Bentley 2004-2008 Continental GT, Continental GT Speed, Continental Flying Spur, Continental GTC> Road salt corrodes the fuel filter causing a fuel leak. Chrysler 2006 Jeep Commander 4.7L V8> Glitch in the powertrain control module software causes engine stalling. 2007-08 Jeep Wrangler (right hand drive)> Steering intermediate shaft rubs the rear brake tube causing a partial loss of brakes. Ford 2005-2006 F-150, Lincoln Mark LT (5.4L 3-valve engine)> Vacuum supply hose for the brake booster swells up and detaches from the intake manifold from an intake manifold backfire causing loss of the power brakes. General Motors 2000-2002 Blazer; 2000-2001 GMC Jimmy; 2000 Bravada SUV> Circuit failure in the steering column multifunction switch causes loss of stop and rear hazard lamps function. 2006 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana vans> Failure of the seat belt buckles to latch properly or to unlatch. 2008 Saturn VUE with 6-speed 6T70 automatic transmission> parking pawl pivot pin breaks the case bore which lets the pawl to move out of place and unlocks the drivetrain allowing the vehicle to roll away. Dealers will replace the transmission. Toyota 2008 Highlander, Highlander Hybrid> Third row seat belt assembly fails to lock and hold, and will spool out when used in conjunction with a child restraint system. Volkswagen 2008 Passat; 2009 Tiguan (2.0T FSI ULEV II engine)> ECM software glitch causes unintentional engine RPM surge when the A/C is switched on. Volvo 2008 V50> Roof cargo roof rails come loose from the vehicle because of weak attaching bolts. 2008 XC90, S80 V8> Faulty bolts allow the engine mount aluminum bracket to break and the engine dropping on the sub-frame causing loss of power or stall. Motorcycles Kawasaki 2006-2007 Ninja ZX14> Crossmember separates from the frame causing rear suspension collapse. Dealers will check engine mount adjusting collar torque and replace the frame if needed. Kawasaki 2009 KLX250T9F, KLX250T9FL> Throttle handlebar grip comes off the handlebar causing loss of control. Other Autostart> Aftermarket remote engine starters for manual transmissions made between 09/07 — 03/08 sold as "Autostart", "Polar Start", "Extreme Start", "Orbit", "Nordic Start", And "Command Start" can unintentionally start the vehicle's engine. If left in gear with the handbrake engaged, the vehicle could lunge forward or in a confined space could cause co asphyxiation. Federal Mogul ball joint assemblies P/N K7147, K7329, K8683, 104353> Nut included is missing a self-locking feature and can come loose. April Recalls BMW 2008 X5 SUV> Rear axle stabilizer installed was a sports-suspension anti-sway bar rather than a standard suspension stabilizer causing over-steer in driving conditions such as fast lane changes at high speed which adversely affects vehicle handling and control. Chrysler 2007-2008 Avenger Sebring> Short circuit of the tire pressure monitoring system electrical connectors causes stall/no-start, dead battery, failed cruise control or remote start system. Ford 2008 E-350 Vans w/138” wheel base> Drive shaft slip yoke fractures and the driveshaft drops down and digs into the road causing loss of control. 2008 Expedition, Navigator w/limo package> Tire pressure monitoring system indicator light doesn’t illuminate when the pressure is 25% below the value stated on the tire placard label. 2008 F-250, F-350 single rear wheel 4X4, 156” WB w/2- piece drive shaft> During 30 mph crash test the fuel tank fuel delivery module hits the frame and leaks fuel. General Motors 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe> Front door power window bolts come loose and the door glass separates from the window regulator, binds and shatters during operation. Hyundai 2006-2008 Sonata> Seat occupant classification system fails to recognize a small adult passenger for proper airbag deployment. dealers will remove the right front seat cushion assembly and send it to be evaluated and reprogrammed. Honda 2003 Accord> Water gets in the windshield wiper motor vent port and corrodes the wiper motor causing the circuit breaker in the housing to fails and the wiper motor stops working. Dealers will inspect and replace any corroded units, and install a snorkel tube to direct water away. Mitsubishi 2004-2008 Endeavor> Failure of the ignition key interlock system makes it possible for the key to be removed while the vehicle is still in gear, allowing the vehicle to roll away. Nissan 2008 Armada, Quest, Titan> Front seat manual adjustment pawl doesn’t fully engage increasing the risk of personal injuries in a crash. Saab 2002-2008 9-5> A-Pillar trim doesn’t meet DOT safety requirements in energy absorbing head restraint. Toyota 2003-2004 Corolla, Matrix> Front door power window bolts come loose and the door glass separates from the window regulator, binds and shatters during operation. Volkswagen 2004-2005 New Beetle> Faulty frontal crash sensors causes the advanced (dual-stage) air bag system t deploy with full force causing injury to unbelted occupant. Motorcycles Honda 2007-2008 VT600, VT750, VTX1300> Faulty fuel valve and fuel control valve diaphragm leaks fuel. Piaggio 2007-2008 Moto Guzzi Norge> Top Case> Locating tab on the accessory top case mounting bracket can break possibly allowing the top case to fall off the motorcycle. Triumph 2008 Rocket III Touring> Fail to comply with DOT labeling requirements for tire inflation pressure. United Motors 2007 V2C-650, V2S-650> Fuel tank cap gaskets prevent proper tank ventilation and cause fuel leakage or stalling. Yamaha 2006-2007 CP250, 2005-2007 YP400> Water enters the harness and corrodes the wires for the fuel pump coupler causing engine stall. Vectrix 2007 Scooter> Battery cables come loose at the battery terminal within the battery packs causing short circuit and electrical fire. Tires American Prospector; Big O; EL Dorado Jetzon; Laramie; Nokian; Stampede; Sure Tire; Summit Trail Wild Country; Wild Trac LT265/75R16 tires> Lower sidewall separation causes a bulge to form in the white sidewall area and blowout. Bridgestone> 24R21 truck tires fail to conform to dot endurance requirements. DEL-NAT size LT265/75R16 made between 12/02 and 12/30/07> Sidewall separation causes a bulge in the side of the tire and potential blowout. Pirelli LT 235/80R17 Load Range E> Failure from tread chunkout, partial tread separation and/or belt edge separation. Other Chassis tie rod assemblies for 2005-2008 Ford F-250 SD and 1998-1999 Dodge 2500, 3500 sold as AC Delco P/N 45A0871, 45A3073; Mcquay Norris P/N DS1456, ES3496, ES3496E; NAPA P/N 269-3208, 269-6095; Spicer P/N 401-1073, 401-1871 prevent the ball stud from seating into the steering knuckle taper and can come loose. Oznium HID headlight kits fail to conform to dot requirements and produce excessive glare to oncoming traffic. Southeast Toyota installed wheel lug nuts> Installed on 18" Enkei and 20" BBS wheels may crack and break causing the wheel to come off. March Recalls Ford 1975 Bobcat, Pinto; 1977 Capri, LTD, Colony Park, Country Squire, Grand Marquis; 1977-1980 Cougar, E Series, Thunderbird. Monarch; 1978-1980 Bronco; 1978-1982 F Series, Light & Medium; 1979 Ranchero; 1979-1980 Granada, Mustang; 1980 Fairmont, Versailles, Zephyr> Intercontinental Auto Parts fuel filter P/N ALG 44/1 & Purolator F10024 crimp on the outlet cap leaks fuel. General Motors 1997-2003 Grand Prix. Regal 3.8L SC V-6> Motor oil leaks and puddles on the engine, and during hard braking it runs below the heat shield and onto the exhaust manifold where it can catch fire and ignite the plastic spark plug wire channel causing an underhood fire. Owners are recommended: (1) do not park indoors, (2) If a burning odor is smelled the vehicle should be checked for leaks, (3) Use 91 octane or higher fuel. 2008 Cadillac STS, STS-V> Failure of the tire pressure monitoring system to detect low tire pressure. Hyundai 2006-2008 Azera, 2006-2008 Sonata> Replacement headlamp assemblies fail to conform to dot motor vehicle safety standards. Mercedes-Benz 2008 CL & S-Class> Failure of the transistors in the front body control module (SAM-F) causes loss of windshield wipers. Subaru 2002-2003 Impreza> Stud bolt(s) of the rear gate stay come loose resulting in a gap between the rear gate panel and stud bolt base. Repeated opening and closing causes the nut at the rear gate inner panel to break and the rear gate drops down which may cause personal injury. Volvo 2007 C30, C70, S40, V50> Master cylinder internal leakage causes gradually deteriorating brake performance eventually resulting in complete loss of the brakes. Motorcycles Big Bear Choppers 2004-2005 Devils Advocate, Venom; 2005 Sled> Weak welds between the frame neck, backbone, and down tubes crack causing steering column neck separation and front end collapse. Note: Incorrectly torques top motor mount may exacerbate the problem. BMW 2007 G650X Challenge, G650X Country, G650X Moto> Damaged fuel lines leak fuel. Kawasaki 2008 EX250J8F, EX250J8FL> Front brake hose deflects forward during suspension travel and rubs against the edge of the front fork outer tube causing a brake fluid leak. Polaris Industries 2008 Victory Vision> ignition switch internal electrical contact plate comes loose from the switch body causing unexpected loss of electrical power and stall. February Recalls Chrysler 2008 Commander, Grand Cherokee> Faulty body control module causes engine stall while driving, no start, or windshield wiper failure. Ford 1992-1993 E-150 – E350; 1992-1995 Lincoln Town Car; 1992-1998 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis; 1992-2003 Econoline; 1993 Bronco; 1993 F150 – F450; 1993-1995 Taurus SHO; 1994-2003 E-150 – E350; 1995-1997 Super Duty Stripped Chassis> The previous recall for the cruise control deactivation switch shorting out and causing an electrical fire was done improperly. The fuse was installed in the ground rather than the power circuit and provided no protection if the switch shorts out. 2005-2008 Mustang> Small unbelted passenger can suffer neck injury from airbag deployment. Dealers will reprogram the restraint module. 2006-2007 E150 – E350; 2007 Expedition, Navigator with 5.4L Engines> Weak fuel rail cross-over hose develops cracks which leaks fuel and could cause an underhood fire. 2007-2008 Expedition Navigator> Weak spring for the interior door handle latch on all the side doors prevents these doors from staying latched and they may fly open during a crash. 2008 F250 to F550> Captain’s chair and 40% split seats failed the DOT crash testing when the welds on the frame and seat back pivot broke. Dealers will add reinforcement or replace the seat back frame. Honda 2004-2005 Acura TL> Water gets in the windshield wiper motor vent port and corrodes the wiper motor causing the circuit breaker in the housing to fails and the wiper motor stops working. Dealers will inspect and replace any corroded units, and install a snorkel tube to direct water away. 2004-2008 Acura TL> Hot under-hood temps cause the power steering hose to crack and leak fluid onto the catalytic converter causing an under-hood fire. Dealers will install a heat resistant hose. Mitsubishi 2007-2008 Outlander> The unused electrical connector is for models with electric-powered seats for non-powered seat models is tucked under the carpet and in salt states the carpet wet with salty snow will short out the wires causing a electrical fire. (recall in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, District of Columbia). Nissan 2008 Infiniti EX35 2009 Murano> Software glitch in the airbag control module prevents the airbag from deploying if the car battery isn’t fully charged. Porsche 2008 Cayenne V6> A fuel line in the plenum panel chafes against the rear engine compartment cover causing a gas leak and engine compartment fire. Rover 2008 Land Rover LR2> Failure of the sunroof panel guide rail causes the glass sunroof to detach from the vehicle. Volkswagen 2008 Audi TT> In the event of a crash the C-pillar trim clips fail to hold the cover and it may injure the front seat occupants. Motorcycles Harley-Davidson 2005-2007 FLHP, FLHPI, FLHTP, FLHTPI, FLHPE, FLHPEI (w/ABS)> Abrasion of the brake lines and hoses causes brake fluid leaks and loss of brake function. Dealers will install brake line retention and clutch cable positioning devices to prevent abrasion. Hyosung 2005-2007 GT650 AND GV650> Fuel tank cap gaskets prevent proper tank ventilation causing engine stalling. Kawasaki 2008 Ninja EX250J8F> Taillight bulbs fail prematurely.
January Recalls General Motors 2006-2008 Chevrolet HHR w/o optional roof rail air bags> Vehicles fail to provide impact protection to meet DOT requirements. Dealers will install an energy-absorbing plastic piece to the headliner trim. Mercedes Benz 2007 E211, GLX164, M164, R251 Diesel> Crankshaft sensor fails from separation of the wires from the sensor causing sudden loss of power and no restart. Mitsubishi 2006-2007 Endeavor> Right side lower seat belt anchor may separate during a severe vehicle crash. Volkswagen 2008 Touareg> Leaking fuel supply line can cause a fire. 2008 New Beetle Special Edition Triple White Sedans> Adhesive attaching the roof spoiler to the rear glass fails allowing the spoiler to come loose without warning. Volvo 2004-2006 S40, V50> (Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia) Exposure to salt corrodes the fuel pump electronic module which causes stall, no start, check engine light. Motorcycles Kawasaki 2008 ZG1400A8F, ZG1400A8FL, ZG1400B8F, ZG1400B8FL> 1) Pivot pin for the latches that secure the saddlebags breaks and allows the saddlebag to come free, jam in the rear wheel and cause loss of control. 2) Rear carrier platform breaks and come off. |
